CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clegg Insurance Group finalized the acquisition of the property and casualty division of iCan Benefit Group late September in Boca Raton, Florida, adding more than 1,500 clients to their book of business and expanding further into south Florida.

This is Clegg Insurance Group’s fourth acquisition since its inception nearly a decade ago.

While iCan’s existing clients may notice a new name associated with the business, they can rest assured as Clegg Insurance already operates throughout the state and plans to keep a local office in the Boca Raton – West Palm Beach area to serve the local Palm Beach clientele.

“Personally, I’m excited to take on a bigger role in the south Florida insurance space, as I began my career just down the road in Boca Raton with a national brokerage house before starting my own business,” said Ryan Clegg, CEO of Clegg Insurance Group. “We’re not only excited about adding the new physical office location, but we’re elated to add this very talented existing team to our roster, which will continue to service our customers throughout the area.”

As a result of the acquisition, Clegg Insurance Group’s annual premiums will increase to approximately $15 million per year, moving the agency into a larger insurance brokerage category.

“At the end of the day, this means all of our clients will see the benefits of this acquisition by having a broader range of products to choose from and cost savings, while still having impeccable local service,” said Clegg.

Prior acquisitions by Clegg Insurance include Florida Insurance Partners in Safety Harbor in 2013, Hopf & Hopf, a Tampa-based insurance firm in 2014, and Advanced Insurance Brokerage, an Anna Maria Island insurance brokerage in 2018.

Clegg started the agency from scratch in 2010 and now has offices in Clearwater, Anna Maria Island and Boca Raton, while continuing to look for further opportunities to expand.

Despite a soft market and insurance rates dropping as much as 65 percent, Clegg Insurance Group has experienced consistent growth. This year alone, the Florida-based insurance agency headquartered in Clearwater has seen a 45 percent increase in net income.

As a result of their continued growth, Clegg Insurance Group is finalizing the purchase of a nearly 4,000 square-foot building located in the Morton Plant district of downtown Clearwater. They are scheduled to close on the building in December and begin renovating the space with plans to move into it by July of 2016.
